A French cabaret song by Jean Lenoir, popular before the Second World War, arranged for piano and
two voices by Sue Casson.
In his Brussels speech (December 1947) David Maxwell Fyfe mentions a song ‘to which we used to listen in more carefree days’
Ne Dis Pas Toujours.
After years of searching, Tom discovered the original recording uploaded to YouTube in 2016. It seemed a fitting opening to our show, becoming the last piece to be added to
Dreams of Peace & Freedom.
My arrangement features a jazz-inspired counter melody offering an English translation of the French lyrics.
